MISSION STATEMENT: To provide and promote life-long recreational and entertainment activities for all members of the North Idaho community. To make available youth and family recreational opportunities which are cost effective and accessible to all economic classes in the North Idaho region.
The Kootenai Youth Recreation Organization was established in the Spring of 2000 to save North Idaho’s only ice skating facility from permanently closing. KYRO, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation, is currently fulfilling its mission and more! Not only has KYRO kept the ice facility operating, in September of 2004, KYRO purchased the ice rink and surrounding land. In December, 2008 after receiving over 90 inches of snow followed by a full weekend of pounding rains, the roof collapsed.
